Great Webelos campout!

We had a great time on the Webelos campout this past weekend!  5 of our Webelos went:  David Wamer, Steven Brown, Michael Bynum, Daniel Amann, and Kevin Holly.  All of them did well helping to set up the campsite, learning things from Mr. Wamer, cooking and cleaning up after dinner, staying warm (28 degrees!), and then putting up the duck boxes we built back in the fall.  We heard some good stories (Two Rocks, purple gorilla) and loved having the Boy Scouts from Troop 165 there to help them learn and grow.

Many thanks to Nathaniel Smith and the other Boy Scouts that came out to help our Webelos learn about camping and finish up a couple of the pins we have been working on.  And thanks to Doug Clemens for bringing them :-)  And many, many thanks to Mr. David Wamer for setting things up so we could camp at Panola Mountain Park!  It was awesome!

We are working on the Citizen, the Readyman, and the Family Member pins during the month of January.  Check the website at http://pack165webelos.blogspot.com for the worksheets (and other worksheets) so you can get stuff done at home! And either send me an email or let me know at the den meetings when your son does requirements at home.  We can’t do everything in the den meetings and I really want all of our scouts to finish up the pins we work on!

Sounds like the Pinewood Derby was a lot of fun!  Awards from the Pinewood Derby will be passed out at the Pack meeting next week, so come in uniform and don’t be late!  BTW, if your son got 1st or 2nd place in the den he is eligible to go to District Pinewood Derby on 2/18.  See Bruce Ferman for details.

Our Webelos Campout at Panola Mtn is THIS SATURDAY AT 1:00PM.  See the handouts from tonight for all the details.  Each of our Cub Scouts has to have an adult parent or guardian with them on the campout.  Please put your name on the sign-up sheet and make sure we have a medical form for you.

This year’s Blue & Gold Banquet will be on 2/11 details and cost TBD.  We will be doing everything we can to keep the cost low so everyone can come, so watch for more details.  See Michael Amann if you can help with decorations and/or ideas.

Thanks!

Panola Mountain Campout info

Please let David Holly or David Wamer know if you are planning to be at the campout this Saturday so we can plan effectively.  Here is the info:

When:  January 28 1:00pm through January 29 11:00am
Where:  Panola Mountain Park (click here for map)
Why:  To get outside!  And other reasons, such as:
- To put up the duck boxes we made back in the fall
- To finish up some of the requirements for pins we have been working on
Cost:  FREE!

We have invited some of the Boy Scouts from Troop 165 to come and camp with us.  This will help us satisfy one of the requirements for the Outdoorsman pin, and will help our boys learn more about what's ahead for them in Boy Scouts.  Each Cub Scout will have to have a parent or adult guardian with them on the campout so we can comply with BSA rules.

We will also be working on earning the "Get Outdoors Georgia" badge from the State Park system.

Packing list:
- Tent
- Sleeping bags
- Flashlight(s)
- Personal care stuff (toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, etc.)
- Cold weather gear - coat, gloves, toboggan, hoodie, etc. (forecast is for 34 degrees that night)

Webelos Campout coming on 1/28

Hope you enjoyed the long weekend - be sure and record the things you did for the Family Member pin and let me know about them at next Monday's den meeting!

We are putting together a Webelos campout for 1/28!  We will be camping with a couple of the Boy Scouts from Troop 165 over at Panola Mountain State Park - woohoo!  We will be putting up the wood duck boxes that we built back in the fall and will be finishing up the requirements for the Outdoorsman pin and other things.  We'll have a packing list, directions, and all the info at next week's den meeting.  Many thanks to Mr. Wamer for getting us in there - it should be a special treat!

Don't forget the Pinewood Derby coming up this Saturday!  We will start weighing cars in at 12:00pm at the church and will start the races around 1:00pm.  Can't wait to see who wins!

This month’s Parent/Committee mtg is tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 7:00pm.  We will be discussing the business of the Pack and getting ready for Space Camp and our big Blue and Gold Banquet in February.  Please dial in and participate!
You can get the number and passcode from me or from the printed handout.
